TrekMadone SLR Gen 8
Trek's eighth-generation Madone, launched in June 2024 as its single road race bike, replacing both the Madone Gen 7 and the lightweight Émonda. The SLR grade uses Trek's 900 Series OCLV carbon with Full System Foil tube shapes, keeps the IsoFlow seat tube, takes electronic groupsets only and comes with a one-piece Aero RSL bar and stem and RSL Aero bottles on the top builds.

Our verdict
Overall
out of 100, average of 7 categories
Trek's one race bike: a light 900 Series OCLV frame with a one-piece cockpit and aero bottles that Trek's own tunnel data puts level with the old Madone. Builds go from Ultegra Di2 to Red AXS with RSL wheels, but it is electronic-only and leans on proprietary cockpit and seatpost parts.

Design
The downtube and seat tube RSL Aero bottles are identical and swappable, and the aero cages also take standard bottles, at the request of the Lidl-Trek team.
SourceAerodynamics
Trek shaped each tube for its position on the bike: the down tube favours stiffness and low weight because it sits in the front wheel's slow wake, while the upper seat tube, IsoFlow and seatpost get the most aerodynamic shapes. The rounder bar tops add drag on their own but shield the rider's legs.
SourceHistory
Madone Gen 8 merged Trek's aero Madone and lightweight Émonda into one race bike; the SLR frame weighs 796 g against 1,050 g for the Gen 7 SLR frame, and the fork 350 g against 418 g, according to launch coverage.
