Quintana RooV-PR

Triathlon20221st generation ↗Disc brakesNot UCI legal

The V-PR is a disc-brake triathlon bike that Quintana Roo launched in late 2021 to replace the PRsix series. It has a short fork, an asymmetric Shift+ down tube, a non-drive chainstay with no leading edge (LEA2) and a T47 threaded bottom bracket. Nutrition and spares are carried in a top tube box and a removable QBox, both mounted outside the frame. The V-PRi, with storage built into the frame, has since replaced it as Quintana Roo's flagship.

Our verdict

No overall score: there's no complete-bike price to rate

A built-to-order tri bike for riders who put fit first: six stack-based sizes, a seat angle range up to 83° and a standard Profile Design cockpit plus threaded T47 bottom bracket that keep servicing simple. Storage bolts on outside the frame and it can't be raced in UCI events; the V-PRi now has the cleaner in-frame setup.

Compare on the stack & reach chart

Good to know

  • Design

The non-drive chainstay is enlarged and shaped to act as a fairing for the rear rotor (Shift technology). Slowtwitch notes the frame is one piece with no bonded sub-assemblies.

    Source
  • Aerodynamics

Quintana Roo claimed a 5.02% aero advantage over the PRsix2 Disc. Slowtwitch reported the company's figure of about 13 W faster than a Cervelo P5 Disc at 30 mph, depending on configuration.

    Source
  • Fit

V-PR sizes are named after frame stack: a 54 has 535 mm of stack. That differs from the usual seat-tube-based sizing, so compare stack and reach rather than the size number.

    Source
  • Integration

The between-the-arms hydration system is designed and tested only with Arundel Mandible cages and is not sold without them. It needs an aerobar with a bridge between the extensions.

    Source
  • Compatibility

All current Quintana Roo bikes use an M12x1.5 E-Thru rear thru-axle for 142 mm spacing. A wheel-on trainer needs a trainer-specific axle.

    Source
  • Maintenance

Bikes are built to order, and Quintana Roo will change stem length, crank length or gearing on request. If a new Di2 bike won't charge, its first suggestion is to firmly reseat the battery wire in the seatpost.

    Source
  • Racing

The V-PR is not on the UCI's list of approved framesets (August 2026 edition). The only Quintana Roo frames listed are the QRL and SR-Series road bikes, so the V-PR can't be raced in UCI time trials.

    Source
  • History

The V-PR launched in November 2021 to replace Quintana Roo's PRsix series. Its frameset is 25% lighter than the PR6's.

    Source
  • Versions

The X-PR uses the same mould as the V-PR in a cheaper carbon and weighs a few hundred grams more. The newer V-PRi moves hydration and nutrition storage inside the frame and has small aero updates.
