GiantTrinity Advanced Pro

Replaced by Giant Trinity Advanced SL

The Trinity Advanced Pro was Giant's rim-brake triathlon platform until the disc-brake Trinity Advanced SL replaced it in 2025. It uses Advanced-grade carbon, a step below the SL's Advanced SL-grade carbon, with an alloy-steerer fork and Giant's AeroVault system: a front hydration unit, a top-tube storage box and a down-tube bottle. Giant still lists the 2022 Tri and TT framesets in the US as clearance stock, well below the SL's frameset price.

Our verdict

No overall score: there's no complete-bike price to rate

A rim-brake triathlon frame for buyers on a budget, now a clearance or used-market buy, with good AeroVault hydration and storage and a well-documented pad stack and reach range. It is an older design with mid-grade carbon, 25 mm tyre clearance and rim brakes, so it suits riders happy to stay with narrow tyres and rim-brake wheels.

Good to know

  • Fit

The Tri and TT framesets share one geometry chart. In the TT setup the arm pads sit 30-42 mm lower and 9 mm further forward than in the tri setup.

    Source
  • Compatibility

Giant gives 25 mm as the maximum tire size and 28 mm as the maximum external rim width. It also states that this frameset is not approved for UCI time trials.

  • Racing

Giant's product copy names Gustav Iden, the Ironman 70.3 world champion, among the pros who raced the Trinity Advanced Pro.

    Source
  • Racing

The frame is on the UCI's list of approved framesets as the 'Trinity Adv Pro MY16' time trial frame, approved on 28 May 2015 in sizes XS to L. Giant's Tri frameset page still says that version is not approved for UCI time trials, so treat only the TT frameset setup as race-legal.

    Source
  • History

Giant launched this Trinity at the 2015 Ironman World Championship in Kona as two series, Trinity Advanced Pro and Trinity Advanced. AeroVault integrated hydration and storage was one of the main features, and Giant said it had tested more than 250 designs against four competitor bikes.

    Source
  • Versions

The Trinity Advanced SL replaced the rim-brake Trinity Advanced Pro in January 2025. Giant says the move to Advanced SL-grade carbon, along with lighter parts, saves 558 g over this frame.
