Replaced by BMC Speedmachine 01

BMC's disc-brake Timemachine, launched in July 2018 as one frame for triathlon and UCI time trials. It added thru-axles and covered disc calipers, a third-generation hinge fork and a dual-position seatpost that moves the saddle 120 mm fore and aft between tri and TT setups. Riders chose a V-Cockpit for triathlon or a UCI-legal flat cockpit, and a rear storage box sat on the top tube in tri mode. The Speedmachine replaced it in 2023.

Our verdict

No overall score: there's no complete-bike price to rate

A versatile used buy that switches between triathlon and UCI time trials with its two seatpost positions and choice of cockpits. Against newer bikes it is heavier than its successor, limited to 27 mm tyres, and relies on a hinge fork and BMC-specific cockpit parts.
