OrbeaOrdu OMX

Orbea's triathlon and time trial bike, redesigned in late 2020 with disc brakes, fully internal cabling and a light OMX carbon monocoque frame. Its party piece is the cockpit: one front post sets pad height, a two-position bridge gives 120 mm of pad reach and up to 15° of tilt, and the basebar flips for a second brake-lever height. The seatpost slides through 100 mm, moving the effective seat angle from 74 to 78°. Hydration and storage stay simple with a down-tube aero bottle and a removable toolbox; with the toolbox off, the bike meets UCI rules.

Our verdict

Overall

out of 100, average of 7 categories

One of the most adjustable cockpits in the catalog on a light frame, with a sliding seatpost that covers road-like to steep tri positions, and it turns UCI legal once the toolbox comes off. The catch is modest storage, just an aero bottle and toolbox, and a cockpit, seatpost and fork that are all proprietary.

Good to know

  • Design

Orbea quotes a 1,130 g frame. 220 Triathlon weighed a size S-M M10iLTD at 8.1 kg without pedals, the lightest tri superbike they had tested at the time.

    Source
  • Aerodynamics

Orbea says the redesign is 11.5% more aerodynamically efficient than the old Ordu at 43 km/h, which it estimates at roughly 41 seconds over a 180 km Ironman bike course.

    Source
  • Fit

Pad height comes from a single front post (90 mm of range on XS/SM, 140 mm on ML/XL). The bridge has two positions giving 120 mm of horizontal adjustment, and it tilts by 15°.

    Source
  • Fit

The seatpost clamp bolts to a rail at three points and can be reversed, giving 100 mm of saddle travel. 220 Triathlon puts the resulting effective seat angle range at 74-78°.

    Source
  • Fit

SM and ML share the same frame dimensions; the ML gets the taller 200 mm front post, so its maximum arm-pad stack is 50 mm higher. Orbea also lists handlebar stack (high/low) of 451/481, 486/516, 486/516 and 536/566 mm and handlebar reach of 641, 665, 665 and 689 mm for XS to XL.

    Source
  • Integration

Orbea deliberately left out top-tube bento mounts and in-frame hydration so riders can choose their own accessories. The bike ships with an aero bottle and a down-tube toolbox.

    Source
  • Compatibility

The bike is UCI legal once the down-tube storage box is removed.

    Source
  • History

The redesigned Ordu was announced in early October 2020 for the 2021 model year, adding hydraulic disc brakes and fully internal cable routing.

    Source
  • Versions

For the current range Orbea lists four complete builds: M10i LTD PWR UCI, M10i LTD, M20i LTD and M30i LTD, plus the OMX frameset. All use the same frame and fork.
