Look796 Monoblade

Triathlon2015First 796 (2015, rim brakes), replaced by the 796 Monoblade RS ↗Rim brakesUCI legalDiscontinued

Replaced by Look 796 Monoblade RS

The original 796 Monoblade replaced Look's 596 in 2015 and was named for its extremely narrow head tube, down tube and seat tube. A pan-flat top tube ran straight into an integrated stem, the front brake sat inside the fork legs and the rear brake was a Shimano direct-mount unit behind the bottom bracket. It offered a 74-80° seat angle range, and the cockpit had stackable pads and a reversible base bar. The disc-brake 796 Monoblade RS replaced it in 2023.

Our verdict

No overall score: there's no complete-bike price to rate

A striking, very narrow rim-brake TT and tri frame with a wide seat angle range and an adjustable integrated cockpit. As a used buy it means rim brakes, a proprietary front end and front brake, and little integrated storage, and it has been replaced by the disc-brake 796 Monoblade RS.

Scored Oct 2026

  • − Proprietary parts, harder to travel with or service
  • − Little integrated hydration or storage
