Lucy Charles-Barclay was an elite pool and open-water swimmer who narrowly missed selection for the 2012 Olympics and took up triathlon in 2014. She races from the front, usually leading out of the water and pressing on with a strong bike. After four runner-up finishes at the Ironman World Championship she won in Kona in 2023 with a course record, and she holds two Ironman 70.3 world titles as well as the 2022 World Triathlon long distance title.
