Daniela Ryf

Swiss triathlete who raced the Olympic distance at the 2008 and 2012 Games, finishing seventh in Beijing, before moving up to long distance. Nicknamed the "Angry Bird", she dominated from 2014 to 2019, winning 35 of 41 races, and collected a record ten Ironman world titles: five at the Ironman World Championship and five at the 70.3 Worlds. Her 2018 Kona win, after a jellyfish sting before the swim, set the course record. She retired with immediate effect in August 2024 because of spinal inflammation.
